Leading to NCFE Certificate in Instructing Vertical Dance
COURSE AIM
To equip students with the skills and knowledge to lead a safe and effective group exercise to music session incorporating a vertical pole.
COURSE FORMAT
Supported by distance learning home-study pack with 3 day course plus 1day final assessment. The 3 days are structured as follows: Day 1 & 2 followed by a break of approximately 4 weeks for study and preparation. Day 3 & 4. Please note that Day 4 is the final assessment day.
WHO SHOULD GO ON THE COURSE?
- Students who are qualified Exercise to Music instructors who wish to diversify.
- Students who are already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
- Students who are already experienced pole dancers who wish to increase their knowledge and skills to enable them to deliver vertical dance training sessions to a group of mixed ability adults.
ASSESSMENT
- Home-study workbook
- Practical assessment – Planning, teaching and evaluating a safe and effective group exercise to music session incorporating the pole.
- Please note that students are required to bring two apparently healthy adults as class participants on their practical assessment day.

- Review of Anatomy and Physiology
- Review of principles of warm-up and cool-down
- Review of choreography and timing applied to the pole
- Review of cardiovascular conditioning applied to the pole
- Session structure Review of muscular strength and endurance applied to the pole
- Review of flexibility training and relevance to the pole
- Review of principles of exercise programme design applied to the pole
- Review communication and teaching skills applied to the pole

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students must be 18 or over
Valid CPR certificate
Valid Exercise to Music Certificate
CERTIFICATION
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Vertical Dance
