Leading to CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Functional Training for the Older Adult
With the positive benefits associated with healthier lifestyles for older people, Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers need to be aware of the physiology of ageing and the special considerations when training older adults.
This course gives you the knowledge to understand the issues of blood pressure, weight management and weakening joints that are faced by older clients and equip you with the skills to facilitate exercise regimes for older people.

You will gain the theoretical and practical skills to plan, deliver and evaluate safe, effective and progressive physical activity programmes for older people. If you are a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer looking to train specialist client groups or you would like to become a Specialist Personal Trainer, this course is for you.
How is the course delivered?
Prior to attending the two day practical course, you will be required to complete four units of home study to help you revise the topics covered in the theory exam. The course attendance will cover all the practical skills you will need for your assessment. You then have four weeks to practise before returning for your practical assessment.
