About Focus Training

Focus Training has been owned by its current Directors since March 2001. The Directors have a simple but very clear objective – to provide high quality training. This objective sets a precedent in every aspect of the company and investment in the quality of our provision is paramount to the company’s continued success.

Focus Training considers its best asset is its people and there is a real team spirit across the company giving all our people a pride in the company and the reputation it has developed over the years.

From the outset, Focus Training decided to deliver courses that were subject to rigorous external assessment through awarding bodies giving our students the security of knowing that their courses were of the highest standard.

In 2002, Focus Training became the first private training provider in the health and fitness industry to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation. As an internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses, ISO 9001 is by far the worlds most established quality framework, and sets the standard for quality management systems. It helps our organisation to succeed through improved customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement through regular audits to ensure that the company continually maintains high standards for our students as it grows.

In 2005, Focus Training was inspected by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (now Ofsted).The inspection resulted in Focus Training being awarded the highest possible achievement, Grade 1 – ‘Outstanding’.

This was the first time a private training provider in the Health and Fitness Industry had achieved this exemplary grading, a record that still stands today.

During the inspection several methods of excellent practice were highlighted and these were subsequently listed on ‘Excalibur’ (now the Excellence Gateway), a gateway for other providers to learn and improve their own performance. One of the major contributing factors, and still highlighted as excellent practice to this day, was the quality of student support through our distance learning support tutors.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection has continued to highlight ‘Outstanding’ grades, and further areas of excellent practice have been listed on the Excellence Gateway, and we are extremely proud to have now achieved Grade 1’s in both ‘Quality of Provision’ and our ‘Capacity to Improve’, which is the cornerstone of our on-going commitment to learners and employers, to continually improve our standards and the standards of education and training within the Health and Fitness Industry.
