Lower Back Pain Specialist

Level 4 Certificate in Exercise for Management of Low Back Pain Course

(Leading to AIQ Level 4 Certificate in Exercise for the Management of Low Back Pain)

During their lives, approximately 80% of adults will suffer lower back pain. Acute back pain can make daily life difficult and the symptoms of chronic back pain can be severely debilitating. Sufferers often become inactive to avoid pain leading to further related conditions.

As the vertebral column and associated muscle structures are highly complex, treatment is often difficult and should only be prescribed by suitably qualified individuals. Improvements made with correct assessment and exercise can be life changing. By returning clients’ normal everyday function with correct exercise prescription, the risk of clients developing further low back pain is substantially reduced and the quality of life greatly improved.

Why should I go on this course?

You will gain the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate safe, effective and progressive exercise sessions for clients who demonstrate low back pain. You will acquire an in-depth specific understanding of functional anatomy and biomechanics relating to the spine and lower back. You will be instructed how to apply training approaches to plan and design progressive programmes for clients. You will develop an understanding of the disease process and how activity or inactivity influences low back pain management. Throughout the course you will also study the common medications used, psychological/ sociological factors and co-morbidities that influence an individual’s ability to exercise safely and effectively.
